Position Title:  Licensed Athletic Trainer, 20 Hours/Wk

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, provide Athletic Training services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician and in accordance with State of Michigan Athletic Training Practice Act.

What the Licensed Athletic Trainer will need:

Must be a graduate of a Master’s or previously equivalent professional education training program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).Required: Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Athletic TrainingState of Michigan Athletic Trainer License or eligible

What the Licensed Athletic Trainer will do:

Independently evaluate and clinically diagnose patient’s functional abilities/ disabilities including range of motion, strength, coordination through athletic training assessment and testing procedures.Establishes functional baseline to be used throughout treatment as a gauge of progress and physical improvements.Incorporate physicians' and other healthcare professionals’ information and recommendations into evaluation and treatment, when appropriate.Independently provides care procedures used in acute and/or emergency situations, independent of setting.Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health care programs for patients, athletes, and community members.Utilizes patient history and appropriate physical examination procedures to determine the patient’s impairments, diagnosis, level of function and disposition.
