Job Requirements:
Licensure: Must possess a current, full, and unrestricted LCSW license from any state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.Education: Minimum of a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a nationally accredited school.Experience: At least two years of current experience in the field of social work.Credentialing and Privileging: Must undergo credentialing and privileging as per VA standards; services cannot commence until these processes are complete.Medical and Immunization Requirements: Must meet health and immunization requirements, including screenings for tuberculosis, rubella, and vaccinations for influenza, among others.Training: Required training includes:CPR and basic life support (BLS) certifications.Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification for some roles.Mandatory VA-specific training on privacy, security, and various healthcare protocols.
Job Responsibilities for Inpatient LCSW
Perform comprehensive assessments of patient social, emotional, and environmental needs.Plan and implement care strategies that address identified needs, especially focusing on the transition from inpatient care.Document all assessments and interventions in the patient’s medical record.Coordinate with healthcare teams to provide consistent patient care.Address potential cases of abuse or neglect and consult appropriate services as required.Assist in the coordination of discharge planning to ensure continuity of care post-hospitalization.Provide crisis intervention and support for patients and families in distress.Facilitate family meetings and interdisciplinary discussions about patient care goals.
