Licensed Engineering Mechanic

Maintains continuous efficient and safe operation of all Hospital equipment and properties. This position is located at Genesys Health System- Grand Blanc Township, MI. Responsibilities Operate and repair (as directed) Power House equipment along with emergency generators, including: performing preventative maintenance, cleaning, painting, etc. Prepares and records various tests and adjusts chemicals. Performs routine housekeeping procedures as requested. Assists with snow removal as directed. Notifies Supervisor of need for chemicals and stores them when received. • Responsible for completing work orders received on computer system from various departments or assigned by Supervisors. Maintains continuous preventive maintenance on various hospital equipment and property. Performs duties with a minimum of supervision. • Install, maintain, operate, troubleshoot, and repair minor electrical, mechanical and HVAC, plumbing and architectural equipment. May be called upon to perform duties in other classifications in the department. Perform other related duties as required by leadership. • Notifies leadership/works with chemical vendor for chemical needs and stores them when received. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:. • 1) Ability to read, write and speak English; 2) Must have normal vision or correctable vision; 3) Must be able to differentiate primary colors; 4) Must have normal finger dexterity; 5) Must have the ability to work without use of mechanical assisting devices; 6) Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds without use of mechanical assisting devices; 7) Must be able to climb and work from ladders; 8) Must have normal hearing or correctable hearing to recognize various alarms that are in use in the institution including but not limited to fire, steam pressure, medical gas and medical air alarms; 9) Interpersonal skills: written, oral and telephone; 10) Must be able to manipulate tools, instruments, equipment and materials commonly used in Maintenance trades; 11) Must pass a Respirator Fit Test. WORKING CONDITIONS: 1) Occasional exposure to unpleasant working conditions, including: temperature extremes, excessive noise and the like; 2) Occasional exposure to hazards of electrical shock, cuts, scrapes and the like; 3) Occasional exposure to chemical hazards, respiratory and skin irritants and the like; frequently works in close, cramped conditions; occasionally functions in a stressful environment due to human behaviors, environmental implications, time constraints or emergency situations. Personal Protective Equipment: • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1) Knowledge of multi-meter, sewer auguring machines, hand and power tools, read blueprints and specifications; 2) knowledge required to operate, repair and install electrical, mechanical and HVAC, plumbing and architectural equipment; 3) knowledge of plant water chemistry and treatment; 4) must be able to use smartphone/computer to create work requests, order supplies and close corrective and preventive work orders. Licensure / Certification / Registration: Required Credential(s): • Certified Third Class Maintenance Professional specializing in Power Engineering credentialed from the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE) obtained within 24 Months (2 years) of hire date or job transfer date. • Driver’s license obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Any valid United States driver’s license will be acceptable and must be able to meet risk management requirements. • Certified Fifth Class Maintenance Professional specializing in Power Engineering credentialed from the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE) or equivalent approved by Facilities Leadership. Preferred Credential(s): • Certified Maintenance Professional specializing in Waste Treatement credentialed from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). • Third Class NIULPE preferred. Education: • High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required Work Experience: • Requires hospital general maintenance experience and minimum of 2 years experience in high pressure power plant operations or equivalent; requires knowledge / experience using multi-meter, sewer auger, hand/power tools, and reading blueprints and specifications; prefer knowledge and experience in operating, repairing, installation of electrical mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, architectural equipment, plant water chemistry and treatment. #MFMBM
