Job Overview:

Trinitas Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the state with more than 73,000 emergency visits annually. Our newly renovated Emergency Room has a total of 45 treatment rooms with separate treatment areas for families, children and seniors. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) functions under the supervision of a professional nurse and the nurse manager in providing patient care utilizing the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. Perform specific duties and are considered an integral part of the nursing team.

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduated from an accredited school of Practical NursingCurrent New Jersey LPN licenseBLS Certification through American Heart Association onlyMust have good inter personal and communication skills

Certifications and Licenses:

BLS certification through American Heart AssociationCurrent New Jersey LPN license

Scheduling Requirements:

NightsFull-Time (40 hrs)Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

Assists in planning and implementing nursing care services as per NJ Dept of Health State and Federal regulationsProvides for continuity of care and services for each resident under the direction of the Nurse Manager Charge Nurse, and or PhysicianAssesses resident needs on admission and as needed on a timely basisPerforms treatments and administers medication with physician s orderResponsible to follow standards of practice, policies and procedures set by facility, State, and Federal standardsSupervision of ancillary personnel on unit to ensure quality of care servicesParticipates in performance appraisalsFunctions as Charge Nurse if situation requiresAssists ancillary staff with direct patient care activities as needed example: bed baths, incontinent care, feeding, etc. Responsible for nursing documentation on each resident including, but not limited to, care plans, summaries, nurse s notes, etc.Assists Charge Nurse in recording and collecting data needed for continuity of care example: diabetic testing, intake and output, Physician s overdue visits, etc.Care and maintenance of nursing equipment and suppliesCommunicates with nursing and ancillary personnel to coordinate planning intervention processes and procedures as neededObserves and reports on patient status to Nurse Manager and/or Physician. Assists Nurse Manager Charge Nurse in staff replacement within guidelines and policies set by AdministrationAttends and participates in meetings related to resident care and unit managementAssists Charge Nurse in coordinating and implementing interdisciplinary care plans to meet resident needsParticipates in change of shift reportsAssists in admission, transfer, and discharge of residentsReinforces basic nursing care concepts to ancillary nursing personnelIdentification of high-risk residents who would develop pressure sores and timely implementation of preventive and supportive strategies for wound careAccurate identification and assessments of residents prone to develop sentinel events such as dehydration, fecal impaction, fracture etc.Assists in implementing and maintaining preventive strategies for infection control and follows infection control policies and proceduresReinforces teaching efforts of Nurse Manager Charge Nurse/and/or In Service Education Department to all nursing personnelAssist the nurse manager in MDS/care planning process to ensure continuation of careEnsure and assist in order transcription and monthly recapsAssumes responsibility for own personal educational and developmental needs
