JOB SUMMARY: A clinically competent licensed practical nurse who utilizes the nursing process under the direction of the RN to deliver care to the neonate to geriatric population as defined in the unit-specific structural standards of the assigned area.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education & Training: Graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing. Currently licensed as LPN in the State of Maryland. Certification in BCLS required.
Work Orientation & Experience: Successful completion of clinical orientation (phlebotomy, unit secretary, medication administration, nursing tech).
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: a) effectively convey verbal and written information; b) follow directions; c) organize and manage time effectively setting appropriate priorities to make independent decisions consistent with current policies, procedures and nursing standards; d) perform simple mathematical functions correctly; e) adapt hours to variable and changing needs of the hospital; f) effectively function as a member of collaborative team; g) respond to emergency situations appropriately; h) demonstrate leadership potential; i) ability to operate personal computer and familiarity with data base programs.
