Schedule The schedule for this position is 1-2 days a week with 9–11-hour shifts from 7:30am-6:30PM. The Licensed Veterinary Technician will not work weekends. We also help keep NYC communities safe and rescue animals in need, responding to emergencies that involve animals as well as keeping our doors open 24/7 for people and animals in need. Summary Support the provision of surgical and dental care for animals by assisting veterinarians with all aspects of surgery, including pre-operative preparation, anesthesia, intra-operative monitoring, and post-operative recovery. This position focuses exclusively on surgical cases, requiring previous surgical and anesthesia experience. High-volume surgery experience is preferred. This position sets the speed, tone, and flow of the surgical team, ensuring efficiency and cohesion during every procedure. This part-time role involves set 10-hour shifts that does not rotate or include weekend shifts. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of critical thinking and working collaboratively with the surgery team to ensure the highest standard of care for every patient. Qualifications: + Associate or bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, or foreign equivalent recognized by NYS + Licensure in NYS to practice veterinary technology + Minimum of two years’ experience as a surgical veterinary technician or, routinely involved in a surgical setting for minimum of two years + Good written and oral communication skills. + Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, able to multi-task and prioritize. + Dependable, reliable, and efficient. + Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and stand for prolonged periods of time.
