About the Professional Licensing Agency: The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency is seeking an individual to help protect the health and safety of the citizens of Indiana by providing quality, efficient service to all professional licensees, applicants, and the public. The fundamental purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the board director, the licensing board/commissions, and to directly supervise the customer service representatives’ projects across a broad scope of career opportunities. Role Overview: The fundamental purpose of the position is to provide exemplary licensing services to Indiana's professional and healthcare workforce by processing licensure applications in a swift and accurate manner. The incumbent analyzes information and makes licensure determinations in conformance with federal and state licensure laws, rules, policies, and procedures. Salary Statement: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: + Analyzes licensing information submitted by the public to determine whether a license may be granted, denied, or if additional information is needed. + Retains detailed knowledge of relevant state, federal, and agency policies surrounding licensure requirements. + Keeps up-to-date, timely notes in the electronic file to communicate the status of the application and any other relevant information regarding the application to others in the agency. + Provides clear and concise information to applicants regarding their progress toward licensure. + Makes independent judgment calls pertaining to application for licensure. Some judgment calls include, but are not limited to reviewing criminal history background checks, education certificates, transcripts, continuing education certificates, inspection reports, probation reports, court documents, and reviewing other legal documents. + Assists applicants in a professional customer service-focused manner to navigate through the application process f gulated business and healthcare professions and communicates with applicants via extensive telephone, written, and in person interactions. + Explains complex licensing programs, requirements, and procedures to applicants, employers, and other local, state, and federal agencies in easily understood terms. + Recognizes application issues and applies proper state and federal statutes, administrative rules, case law, policy, and written guidelines to make a licensing determination or board decision referral. + Communicates, orally and in writing, with agency customers including applicants, licensees, board members, as well as other state, federal and local officials and the general public. + Weighs evidence and application materials collected and uses judgment in issuing professional licenses. Considers relevance of collected information to determine whether to issue the license or refer a matter of concern to the board or supervisors. The incumbent also has the ability to determine relevancy of evidence and dismiss unnecessary information in the decision-making process. + Maintains detailed and extensive knowledge and answers questions related to Indiana license law and administrative code. + Trains and mentors similarly situated staff practices, operational procedures, and proper application of state and federal law to a wide range of licensure issues. + Assists in the processing of all agency incoming mail. + Establishes and maintains licensure files, including electronic files. Job Requirements: + Specialized knowledge of the licensure requirements, statutes, and rules for assigned boards and agency-wide policies. + Ability to comprehend and accurately explain detailed information. + Ability to multi-task. + Computer knowledge and the ability to do research through the internet. + Ability to communicate orally and in writing. + Ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with other agency personnel, customers, and the public.
