The Lieutenant, Security Supervisor ensures a safe and secure environment for all patients, colleagues, and visitors to Trinity Health Grand Rapids (THGR).
Position Summary:
Provides direct supervision to Security colleagues to ensure efficient and cost-effective security operations and exceptional customer service.Plans, coordinates and oversees activities relating to the security of hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry and to ensure the personal safety of patients, visitors, colleagues, medical staff and volunteers.Holds colleagues accountable to deliver daily operating tasks and posting schedule.Collaborates with clinical partners and other stakeholders to ensure colleague and patient safety is always the priority.Provides oversight of parking operations, and contract security personnel as needed.Contributes to updating departmental policies relating to Security.Assists in developing training and educational opportunities for department and ensures compliance to training and polices/procedures.Oversees scheduling for Security Colleagues.What the Lieutenant, Security Supervisor will need:
Associate degree in Business Administration, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Security Management, Emergency Preparedness, Public Safety, Public Administration; or three years of leadership/supervisor or Law Enforcement experience; or current MCOLES certification (related field desirable).Valid driver's license and must be insurable under Trinity Health liability insurance guidelines with an acceptable driving record.Three years of experience in law enforcement and/or security; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to carry or lift up to 30 lbs. routinely, and on occasion up to 50 lbs. (20% of time). Ability to push or pull over 50 lbs. occasionally (20% of time). Manual dexterity. Ability to stand and walk (80 to 95% of time). Wear a two-way radio (100% of time). Perform detailed tasks with interruptions (50% of time).Familiarity with standard desktop and windows-based computer system, including email, e-learning, and intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or five years of experience in Security Supervision or Law Enforcement.Preferred: Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certifiable or certified. Basic Life Support (BLS). First Aid - (FIRSTAID). Certification as a Security Police Officer under Public Act 330. Possession or ability to obtain State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).Preferred: Prior experience in Security Supervision Law Enforcement.Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
