This position is eligible for a $3,500 (minus tax) sign on bonus that is paid out incrementally.
Summary:
The Activities Assistant is responsible for administering the facility’s Life Enrichment Program to meet the individual needs of the residents within all behavioral domains (i.e. physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social), and provides individualized one-on-one, as well as small and/or large group activities, daily on unit(s) and/or in other designated areas. The Assistant will help plan life enrichment programs to carry out the objectives of the Lakewood community as a part of total resident care and will supervise and protect residents during activities. The Assistant will learn all phases of the Life Enrichment department and will perform all qualified duties in the absence of the Life Enrichment manager.
Responsibilities:
+ Helps with planning and preparation of monthly life enrichment calendars and helps post them monthly in designated areas including residents’ rooms and common areas.
+ Transports residents to and from life enrichment programs and drives and/or accompanies residents on van rides/special trips; stays visible during programs and supervises residents in attendance.
+ Sets up and cleans up after life enrichment programs and helps maintain a clean and orderly work area.
+ Helps to maintain a general record of residents’ participation in life enrichment programs and evaluates residents’ responses during programs.
+ Decorates the facility for holidays and special events in accordance with life safety standards.
+ Develops and implements programming within all the behavioral domains (i.e. physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social), including one-on-one interactions as well as small and/or large group activities daily on unit(s) and/or in other designated areas.
+ Maintains good communication and teamwork with all departments.
+ Helps in transporting residents to and from the beauty salon as needed and helps deliver resident mail.
+ Knows fire and safety regulations and attends in-service programs.
+ Attends weekly interdisciplinary team meetings and participates in creation and implementation of resident care plans and progress notes.
+ Other Duties as Assigned.
Other Information:
+ In order to remain in compliance with federal and state regulations, this position is subject to irregular hours which may include occasional evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed, according to the rotating schedule of the department. This position is also expected to fill in as needed when other staff are unavailable.
+ The Activity Assistant who is also a C.N.A. may be required to assist residents with clinical tasks on occasion such as feeding, toileting, transferring, and/or other duties as assigned.
+ Frequent periods of concentration requiring close attention to detail, and vision/hearing acuteness are required at all times.
