Life Safety Specialist - Plant Services - Full Time

Position Summary: Performs installation, inspection and repair of fire and life safety (FLS) systems to ensure compliance with local, state and federal requirements.
Education, License & Cert:
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ A valid driver’s license is required.
+ Current Firestop Installers Training (FIT) Level 2 Certification required, or able to obtain within 1 year of hire, or equivalent certification through a recognized Insurance Services Organization (ISO).
+ NFPA Life Safety Specialist Certification required within 2 years of hire. NICET Certification preferred.
Essential Functions:
+ Assures life safety compliance with hospital policy/procedures, local, state, Joint Commission and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements and regulations. Performs inspection, testing and commissioning of all fire and life safety (FLS) systems, including but not limited to: smoke and fire barriers to include opening protective doors/dampers, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers.
+ Perform repairs of building components (i.e. walls, floors) utilizing installation of fire stopping materials in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications/UL system.
+ Performs additional corrective maintenance of building components such as opening protective doors/dampers.
+ Maintains and safely uses all assigned materials, tools and equipment, protecting patients, visitors and caregivers at all times.
+ Effectively interacts with employees, contractors and end users as applicable when performing assigned tasks, positively adapting to all changes relative to scope of work as presented.
+ Thoroughly documents and maintains records of inspections and work performed pursuant to departmental policies and warranty/vendor requirements.

Other Duties:
+ Serves as a member of the fire response team.
+ Assists in removing snow from facilities grounds and maintains grounds as required.
+ Performs related and other department duties as required.
Pay rate ranges from $25.44 - $39.71 per hour.
