Position Summary:
You will lead Lifecycle Teams in Hematology serving as the accountable asset leader and the steward of our external partnerships. As such you are accountable to maximize the lifecycle value to patients, society and Roche through owning the global cross-functional asset strategy ranging from late-stage development, manufacturing, commercialization, budget requirements and its successful implementation. This position will be based in Basel or South San Francisco and global travel (>30%) to connect with external stakeholders and other Roche sites is expected.
You will make decisions for the programs across all functions and are the single decision-maker while empowering sub-team leaders and working closely with Alliance Management. You are accountable to ensure appropriate internal and external advice is sought for decisions.
The Opportunity:
Define the asset vision and strategy, ensuring appropriate resourcing and line of sight to all relevant functions while always putting the patient first, following the science, and addressing customers’ needs
Lead the Lifecycle Team through Phase 3 readouts, lifecycle decisions and filing activities
Inspire and align people towards a vision while building a culture of accountability, collaboration and trust
Act from a whole system perspective, displaying an enterprise portfolio approach and understand the big picture of how the organization’s mission fits in the marketplace
Act with a sense of urgency and curiosity, take smart risks; embody a growth mindset to reach beyond boundaries, and experiment with the right balance between long term and short term outcomes
Lead and develop teams through constructive feedback and coaching, in particular continuing a strong partnership between organizations by fostering mutual respect and understanding
Ensure timely, efficient flexible talent flow and PVCs (Product Variable Costs) accountability to deliver against the program strategy, including key achievements.
Remove roadblocks, and make trade-off decisions while considering portfolio context to maximize the impact
Remain composed and centered in handling and communicating issues during crisis management for all activities associated with the molecule strategy while protecting Roche’s reputation and trust with different partners
Who you are:
Bachelor's Degree (marketing, business management, or life sciences is preferred), MBA, MD, Ph.D. or other relevant Graduate or Postgraduate Degree is preferred
Proficient written and verbal English
Substantial multidisciplinary experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and a thorough understanding and experience navigating the complex corporate environments
Experience in both global as well as affiliate leadership roles, ideally with strong scientific competence and strong credibility in drug development
Significant (5+) years of senior level leadership experience with P&L and portfolio accountability is a plus
Experienced leader with shown results in people leadership and talent development in a multicultural environment
Successfully managed complex projects with high-reaching milestones in high-pressure circumstances
Experience influencing and challenging senior management, TAEs, and external partners in relation to science, data, and resources
Experience with filing, launches, affiliate level commercialization as well as reimbursement and access strategy are all strongly preferred.
