This patient-friendly facility offers a variety of primary care, emergency care and specialty services along with Lifestyles, a medically based fitness program and facility.   


As a Lifeguard, you are responsible for providing a safe, sanitary environment that encourages our members to use the Lifestyles facility for fitness, relaxation and recreation and to improve individual swimming and water safety skills. As a team, we make sure that we are assisting, helping, developing and meeting the needs of not only our team, but the community we serve. This opportunity is a great starting point for career minded individuals and many of our caregivers have been promoted into leadership roles or went on to the clinical field. You will be part of a team that emphasizes communication and trust, works together to ensure quality and safety, and enjoys the opportunity to teach and share knowledge of water safety.     


A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 5:30AM – 10:00PM.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Never leave the pool unattended during patron usage hours. 

Arrive at an appropriate time in order to change and check the message board, Strantrols and pool area for safety hazards. 

Perform all daily and closing duties such as chemical testing and reporting, managing pool space, keeping the pool deck swept and picked up, promoting programs, putting away or turning off all equipment and locking all doors at the end of the day. 

Provide preventive lifeguard duties during open swim, lap swim or scheduled programs. 

Guard from appropriate station (guard chair, pool side or roving station) with the best view of the pools and near the most at-risk swimmers. 

Enforce rules to prevent injury and upset members. 

Maintain all certifications.  

Know the Emergency Action Plan for fire safety, inclement weather, accidents, injuries, etc. and demonstrate that knowledge during services and drills. 

Teach quality swim lessons or lead quality programs by preparing daily lesson plans according to Red Cross or Lifestyles curriculum that are fun, goal-oriented and time appropriate, take daily attendance and ensure the safety of all participants. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

High school education. 

Current nationally recognized certification for Lifeguard Training and First Aid. 

Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer for the American Red Cross (or equivalent provider). 


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to maneuver, carry, lift, bend, stoop, swim, walk and sit for extended periods of time.

Ability to manage/lift backboard for life-saving activities.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
