Example of Duties Under supervision, this position serves as a lead person, provides lifesaving services and maintains aquatic facilities as required; provides supervision of participants to ensure the safety of all persons using the Municipal swimming or waterfront area; communicates information to coworkers, immediate supervisor and the public; provides a wide variety of water safety instruction to children and adults; responsibilities also include performing facility and ground security and performing duties related to maintaining swimming pool and waterfront water quality standards. Must be certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and certified as an instructor or instructor trainer in the same to include first aid, Water Safety Instructor or equivalent. High School graduate or equal, 18 years of age. Certified Pool or Aquatic Facility Operator. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one (1) year lifeguard experience and experience as a swim instructor.
