Lifelong Learning Coordinator

Job Description:

The Lifelong Learning Coordinator supports the development of programming and engagement opportunities that keep Brown alumni intellectually connected to the University through the Office of Alumni Relations’ Lifelong Learning program.

The Coordinator reports to the Director of Alumni Experiences but works most closely with the Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning to launch and maintain the “Speakers Bureau,” as well as the Lifelong Learning Calendar, Digest, and Media Bank, which will serve as hallmarks of our Lifelong Learning program as we help Brown alumni explore their intellectual curiosity. The Coordinator is responsible for developing the growth of a database of a rich and diverse collection of speakers who can engage with alumni on location, online, and on campus with an emphasis on focus areas of current importance to the University. A highly collaborative individual, the Coordinator also works with teams that focus on generational programming, alumni clubs, affinity groups, shared interest groups, and events as well as with faculty. The position will handle other administrative duties and information technology tasks, as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field such as development, nonprofit, event planning and administrative support. 

Required Qualifications

Strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, project management, and time-management skills.  

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. with finesse interacting with faculty, senior administration, and high-profile alumni.  

Ability to work both independently and in a team atmosphere. 

Competency in the full Google suite of products, along with the ability to find, use, and master new technology.  Must have working knowledge of Eventbrite, Zoom, and other virtual event platforms.

Excellent customer relations skills and a high level of tact and discretion is required. 

Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends, as well as travel as needed. Often work is required during Memorial Day Weekend. 

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with Brown University and/or faculty preferred.
