Lift Team Technician I Patient Transportation I Evening I Part Time

Overview Lift Team: Responsible for performing and problem solving through complex/dependent lifts/transfers under the direct and indirect supervision of the patient transportation and lifting staff using appropriate patient lifting equipment. Assists the staff with physically demanding tasks to prevent injury. Participates in the orientation of new staff and ongoing education and training of lifting equipment and transfer/repositioning techniques. Consults with nursing staff in development and implementation of lifting plans for patients. Assists in building a 'culture of safety' to support clinicians in providing a safe working environment. Ensures positive patient customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies, procedures and standards established by Shands, and the departmental management. Transport: Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations enabling physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties in an effective manner. Ensures positive patient customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies, procedures and standards established by Shands, and the departmental management. Transports patients in wheelchairs, beds, stretchers or wagons to patient care areas, ancillary areas, various outpatient clinics, and for discharge from the hospital. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Patient Care Assistant (PCA) desirable. Two years work experience required. Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Assistant or Physical Therapy Aid desirable. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
