Here, you’ll find a collaborative environment where safety is a top priority, all opinions are valued, and people are empowered to grow in their career._ **_Apply Today!_** **Description** Highly skilled mechanic who safely perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of light duty vehicles and equipment which may include quarter to one-ton pickup trucks, skid steers, forklifts, boom trucks, lube trucks or other light duty equipment. + Performs diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: Engines, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension, steering, brakes, clutches, AC units, and electric motors + Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed + Performs mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance to include: Oil and lube service, coolant system flush, transmissions services, filter and gasket checks, checking of water pumps, thermostats, belts, radiator hoses, and clutch fans + Train and mentor other employees + Perform welding, such as: carbon arc, and Mig + May operate equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment + Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as needed + Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections + Perform other duties as required **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications** + Two (2) years of experience in light duty mechanical/maintenance **or** a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance + Knowledge of general to advanced electrical + Ability to read schematics **Preferred Qualifications** + High School diploma or GED + ASE certifications + Knowledge and ability to use various computer aided diagnostic tools + Knowledge of Tohono O'dham Nation laws, policies and government **Criteria/Conditions** + Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English + Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards + Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment + Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms + Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday + May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation + Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required + Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws **What We Offer You**   The estimated pay range for this role is currently  **$27.00 - $37.00/hour** . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
