Lighthorse Police Investigator - Wilburton

Job Summary: The Lighthorse Police Investigator investigates suspected criminal violations of federal, state, or tribal laws within the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma's jurisdiction, assessing the sufficiency of evidence for prosecution. You will report to the Lieutenant.

Payrate: $28.59 per hour | Hourly, Full Time | Schedule and Hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Thursday with Friday through Sunday OFF | Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.| WEEKLY EARNED WAGE ACCESS IS AN OPTION FOR THIS POSITION |

Job Tasks:

You will analyze charges and complaints, identify key issues, and assist prosecutors in determining the investigation's scope, timing, and direction. Prepare cases for court and testify as needed. You will develop and utilize informants to gather crucial information. You will obtain, authenticate, and preserve evidence; execute search and arrest warrants; document crime scenes, and compile comprehensive reports. You will report critical information and coordinate with other officers or agencies to ensure comprehensive services. You will be on call for the purpose of assisting uniform officers at the scene of criminal incidents, for advice, assistance, or instruction as needed.  You will investigate complaints against Choctaw Nation police officers. You will be a resource for uniformed officers in the field whenever necessary or requested.  If requested or required, to enforce Tribal, State, and Federal laws and perform basic functions of patrol using the methods for patrolling as instructed in the basic training academy and in the FTO program.  Perform follow up investigations on reported crimes to determine final outcome of alleged offenses. Stay informed on matters within patrol areas, reporting issues to supervisors and addressing unsafe conditions such as obstructions, debris, or damaged traffic control devices. Locate individuals with active warrants, take them into custody, and ensure secure prisoner transport. Other dues as may be assigned

Job Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED.·         At least 21 years of age.·         Medically fit; able to perform Police Officer duties and pass a Physical Fitness test. Possess a valid State driver’s license.·         Basic computer skills to enable report writing, composition or correspondence, use of law enforcement communication software, Internet and e-mail.  Able to qualify yearly with department firearms. Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions.·         Ability to work effectively and efficiently in high stress and conflict situations.·         Ability to exercise independent judgment and make logical decisions. Completion of the law enforcement academy.
