Job Description

REPORTING TO/DEPARTMENT: 

Reports to the Senior Manager, Microwave & Linac Engineering in the Linac Systems department

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work on the design and testing of electron linear accelerator microwave subsystemAssist in building a test bed consisting of a pulse modulator, high power magnetron and microwave waveguide networkDevelop knowledge in the basic function and operation of specific componentsAssist in the development of a computer monitoring, data acquisition system to monitor key operational characteristics of the network using LabViewGain proficiency in programming in LabViewDevelop a routine for cycle testing the microwave subsystem for 24/7 reliability testingAttend department meetings to learn about a variety of engineering developmentsParticipate in related efforts that the Linac Systems R&D team is working on with opportunities for additional hands-on workEngage with cross-functional engineering to understand roles and responsibilities within the organization

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Preferred or Desired:Familiarity with lab instruments and data analysisExperience with LabView a plus

Required:Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering disciplines (must have completed at least two years)Familiarity and comfort with debuggingExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent problem solving/troubleshooting skillsAbility to regularly work on-site at the Sunnyvale Accuray campus

WORKING CONDITIONS:Indoor Environment: The position takes place indoors, providing a comfortable and climate-controlled workspaceSedentary Work: This role involves extended periods of sitting and working at a desk, requiring good ergonomic practicesComputer Usage: Proficiency with computers, including software applications and communication tools, is essential for tasks and collaborationMinimal Physical Strain: While physical demands are generally low, occasional light lifting and moving of objects might be requiredStructured Schedule: This position usually follows regular business hours, promoting a consistent and predictable work routine
