Internal Job Title : Line Cook Job Type: Permanent , Full time Location: Ottawa, ON Work Model: On-site, Monday - Friday only Position Summary As a Line Cook at CBN, you will assist the Cafeteria Manager in the prepar ation and serving of food to our employees at our on-site cafeteria, as well as ensur e the food service facilities are always kept safe and sanitary . You wil l also support the cafeteria in menu planning, catering preparation, inventory and creating daily specials. This role operates on a set shift (Monday-Friday 6:45am-2:45pm), but daily responsibilities vary greatly ! What You Will Do + Prepar e vegetables for salads and lunch specials, prepar e meals based on customer defined preferences, blending and serving smoothies and helping in the kitchen as requested ; + Creat e varied and nutritious menus for lunches, in-house catering, and special events ; + Arrang e set-up of food items, supplies, serving lines and equipment and ensuring that they are provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements ; + Clean food preparation and serving areas and maintain safe and sanitary kitchen conditions at all times ; + Report any equipment malfunctions or other potential safety concerns to the Cafeteria Manager ; + Perform cash, debit and credit transactions at the cash register throughout the day ; + Monitor inventory (food, materials) and repor t low stock levels to the Cafeteria Manager to avoid impact on meal plans ; and + Various o ther duties and responsibilities . Qualifications Knowledge and Experience + 2 + years of e xperience working in kitchen (back-end) environment + Valid Food Handler Certification ( asset ; must be willing to attain if not in possession) + Customer Service experience ( asset ) + Payment handling/transactions experience (asset) Skills and Abilities + Customer centric mentality + Teamwork + I nitiative + D etail oriented Mandatory Requirements + Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance. + Physically be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 35 lbs.
