Line Dispatch Supervisor - Swing Shift ($57,729 - $89,481 DOE)
**Description** **Essential Duties** + **Supervise and coordinate** the dispatch of CDL drivers, ensuring compliance with all State of Alaska transportation regulations, including doubles and Hours of Service (HOS) rules. + **Monitor and manage** dock and yard operations to optimize cube utilization, maximize trailer mileage efficiency, and ensure smooth freight movement. + **Ensure accurate dispatching** by assigning drivers, verifying schedules, and adjusting for operational needs. + **Receive, review, and process** bills of lading, driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs), and other transportation-related documents. + **Update and maintain** real-time tracking of driver and equipment status in the dispatch system (TruckMate). + **Generate and review manifests** for outbound trailers, ensuring compliance with routing and load plans. + **Prepare and submit necessary permits** to the Alaska Department of Transportation (DOT) as required. + **Oversee freight load planning** to maximize trailer space and mileage efficiency per trip. + **Verify documentation accuracy** and make necessary corrections before dispatching. + **Approve driver time records** and ensure compliance with company policies and DOT regulations. + **Respond to freight pickup requests** from customers and coordinate scheduling efficiently. + **Communicate with drivers** to provide updates, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to schedules. + **Report all injuries, accidents, and near misses** in a **timely manner using the Origami reporting program** , ensuring proper documentation and follow-up. **Qualifications** + High school diploma or GED equivalent required. + **Minimum of 2-3 years of transportation or logistics experience, with prior supervisory or lead experience in dispatch or yard operations.** + Experience with **line haul operations, dock/yard planning, and driver dispatch in compliance with AK state regulations.** + **CDL-A preferred** (not required but highly beneficial). + **Valid driver’s license required** **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** + **Strong leadership and supervisory skills** , with the ability to manage and direct a team of CDL drivers. + **In-depth knowledge of AK state transportation regulations** , including permitting for doubles, e-logs, HOS, and DOT compliance. + **Experience optimizing cube utilization and trailer mileage efficiency.** + **Ability to problem-solve and make quick operational decisions** under high-pressure situations. + **Excellent communication skills** to interact effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams. + **Proficiency in dispatch software (TruckMate preferred)** and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). + **Exceptional organizational skills** , with strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. + **Ability to multi-task effectively** , managing multiple dispatch priorities in a fast-paced environment. + **Strong customer service skills** , both internally (with drivers and dock staff) and externally (with customers). + **Experience using the Origami reporting program to document accidents, injuries, and near misses in a timely and accurate manner.** **Leadership Competencies** · Communication: Express ideas in a clear, concise and convincing manner.
