Line Locating Technician

Our knowledgeable and dedicated BC Geomatics team is searching for a Line Locating Technician, in Langley, BC. We are looking for someone with a technical background, love of exploring, working outside, and a voracious appetite for line locating!   What you will do: + Manage and perform field line locating work with the support of a Locator Assistant. + Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and line locating methodology. + Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra. + Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences. + Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Locator Assistants. + Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology. + Actively participate in and proactively support the advancement of the GeoVerra safety program. + Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program. + Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.   What you will bring: + A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Locating Technician in an oilfield/municipal setting. + Strong working knowledge of utility locating theories, fundamentals and ground disturbance practices. + Experienced in a municipal setting completing locates and scans. + Familiarity and experience with Ground Penetrating Radar would be considered an asset + Familiarity with Trimble RTK or Handheld GPS would be considered an asset. + Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver projects on time and on budget in a field environment. + Experience with interpreting utility plans and maps would be considered an asset. + Effective communication skills - verbal and written; accurate and legible field notes and sketches. + Knowledge and experience of pipeline, lease and facility construction would be considered an asset. + Snowmobile, ATV and UTV experience would be considered an asset. + The ability to develop and motivate line locating staff and work well in a team environment. + A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract. + Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.   Job Conditions + Out-of-town work (possible shift work) might be required. + Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis. + Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.   What we offer + Wage range: $26-36.00/hour depending on experience + Comprehensive benefits coverage, vacation, wellness days, and RRSP matching contributions + Tools and services to support your mental wellness. + Work-life balance + Growth and advancement opportunities + Paid professional dues. + Continuing education and professional development + Use of leading-edge technology and equipment + Diverse projects and a fast-paced working environment Please apply online at https://www.geoverra.com/careers/ .
