We are recruiting for an exceptional Line Locator to work in our Central Division (West Valley), Arizona location. This individual will perform technical work of locating and marking underground water and sewer lines using maps, blueprints and electronic conduit locators in diverse environments.
Key Accountabilities:
Uses maps, blueprints and detectors to locate water and sewer mains in streets, easements and services and marks location using metal detectors and line trackers.Reviews and monitors the work of the contractors in reference to hitting or damaging mains or service lines.Responds to emergency calls from contractors when an unidentified utility is located.Contacts the Engineering Department for update information on new plans and visits construction sites of new mains and services to update the data.Organizes, prioritizes and routes the Blue Stake requests. Occasionally attends pre-construction conferences to exchange information or explain Blue Stake policy.May be required to help periodically with repair of services or mains.This position is subject to callback, overtime and weekend/holiday emergency call outs and call duty.
Requirements:
ADEQ Grade 1 Certification in Water Distribution (or ability to obtain within one year of hire). Additional higher level grade certifications are highly desirable.High School Diploma or equivalent.Valid Arizona Class D driver’s license and a clean driving record.Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints and “as-built” plans. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with private contractors and the general public.Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems or utility construction methods, techniques and practices. Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with working in traffic.
