The Director of the Mexico bureau is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Mexico newsroom. The duties include guiding the editorial vision to propose daily news stories, breaking news, special reporting, investigations and exclusive interviews. The candidate must also have vast knowledge of digital platforms and streaming.  The position requires managerial expertise to lead a team of reporters and producers as well as mentoring and training. The candidate needs to have a well-established list of contacts with community organizations, business leaders, federal and local officials and other news organizations.   Responsibilities   + The Mexico bureau director is the point of contact for Noticias Telemundo for all coverage in the newscasts and all its platforms including streaming. + Organize, supervise, and plan coverage that originates in Mexico Bureau and the rest of the country. + Planning of breaking news in Mexico. + Oversees the production of news content, including the revision of scripts. + Supervises/manages/directs Mexico -based editorial staff. + Follow guidelines by standards and legal departments + Works collaboratively with NBC News for maximizing and sharing of assets and resources. + Ability to multitask and work in the fast paced, changing newsroom environment. + Able to work in a dead-line driven environment + Other duties as directed by the News Gathering Manager Basic Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience + Minimum 5+ years of management and leadership experience + Solid editorial judgment and decision-making skills + Able to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines + Experience with digital news platforms and multimedia storytelling + Experience in budget management and resource allocation + Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for linear and all platforms   Eligibility Requirements: + Willingness to work flexible hours including mainly weekends, late and/or last-minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment + Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area + Must be 18 years or older + Must have a valid driver’s license + Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States + Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program Desired Characteristics + Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization + Proven solid writing skills and editorial judgment + Exhibits excellent knowledge of Spanish grammar + Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story desired As part of our selection process, external candidates may be required to attend an in-person interview with an NBCUniversal employee at one of our locations prior to a hiring decision.
