Linen Technician - Laundry - Full Time

Position Summary: 

Responsible for providing laundry service for personal clothing of residents and for the cleanliness and appearance of the Skilled Nursing Unit.

Day shift, rotating weekends and holidays. 

Education, License & Cert: 

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.

Experience: 

Position requires ability to follow written and oral instructions.  Act 34 clearance (criminal background check).  On the job training.

Essential Functions: 

1. Provides personal laundry functions in a timely manner as assigned.

2. Labels personal clothing of residents on admission and as required to maintain work area in sanitary/neat condition.

3. Performs assigned tasks in accordance with established laundry and housekeeping procedures.

4. Collects and sorts soiled laundry in appropriate containers and assigned areas.

5. Operates equipment per instructions.

6. Returns clean personal clothing to the individual resident’s closet and drawers.

7. Responsible to maintain resident closets and drawers in a clean, neat, organized condition.

8. Identifies worn, soiled, or otherwise unacceptable clothing and follows procedures to discard.

9. Discards waste/trash into proper containers and relines receptacle with plastic liner.

10. Follows all unit infection control policies. Institutes facility procedure for residents with allergic reactions to materials.

11. Takes initiative in performing extra duties in the unit.

12. Attends all meetings and in-services as directed.

13. Participates and assists in department studies and projects as assigned.

14. Informs supervisor of supply needs and any maintenance repairs as observed.

15. Utilizes proper body mechanics. 16. Honors residents’ and staffs’ personal rights and property rights.

17. Follows established procedures in use/disposal of personal protective equipment.

18. Other duties as assigned.

19. Use of washer, dryer, clothing label maker, and laundry carts.

20. Keeps informed of fire, safety, and disaster programs.

21. Attends designated in-service programs.

Other Duties: 

Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay rate ranges from $17.00 - $22.37 per hour.
