Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to customize astragals according to specification. Must maintain acceptable production levels, minimize down time through efficient operation and ensure all quality checks are completed and to operate the Ultimate Astragal Chop Saw in an efficient and safe manner meeting all production requirements.

Job Duties:
Level 3 Training
· Observe all safety rules and regulations and follow lock out tag out procedure (LOTO).
· Report all safety hazards immediately.
· Be able to Show ability to read a tape measure and set up chop saw for required cut.
· Ensure that the correct materials are being used and the quality is acceptable.
· Ensure that saw is in good working order.
· Properly set up saw for cutting of astragal bodies to customer’s specifications on length and notch.
· Maintain effective communication with Line Leader on all issues.
· Complete any daily paperwork for production reporting, as necessary.
· Exercise excellent housekeeping and organizational habits; assure work area is clean before leaving.
· Maintain good attendance.
Additional Responsibilities (Level 4)
· Show ability to safely change the blade using LOTO procedures.
· Identify causes of downtime and bottlenecks causing loss of production and take corrective action.
· Develop complete knowledge of all Ultimate Astragal bodies and their quality requirements and continually check the material as it is being processed.
· Be able to do routine preventative maintenance on chop saw following all safety procedures.
· Maintain good attendance
· Show ability to operate the weather-strip machine when needed
· Start cross training and learn other aspects of the line with the goal of being able to backup other positions in sub com, and trim.
· Read and understand all aspects of customer spec sheets.
· Meet production requirements based on an up time of at least 75% in an 10 hour day.
Additional Responsibilities (Level 5)
· Maintain increased safety requirements
· Show ability to cross train new employees how to safely operate the chop saw and read a spec sheet while cutting the astragal bodies to the exact quality needed for shipment.
· Demonstrate an ability to work and solve fabrication problems with minimal supervision.
· Be able to comprehend customer orders so that the appropriate materials are cut and
produced correctly with correct quantities.
· Perform back up duties on weather –strip machine and trouble shoot the weather-strip machine
· Keep supervisor notified of blade issues and blade life when determining cut quality and give good feedback on chop saw performance.
· Notify supervisor and write work orders when needed for issues at the chop saw or weather-strip machine.
· Immediately notify the Astragal Cell Leader or Supervisor of production problems, incoming material quality problems or machine malfunctions.
· Fill out any production paperwork and ensure that all components and Astragals meet quality requirements.
· Gain a working knowledge of the packing priority screen and how it is used to determine order priority and shipping commitments.
· Communicate with Lead and Supervisor when order level completion will not be met during the day resulting in carryovers.
· Complete cross training of selected areas of the astragal lines that could include LH, RH and packing or other areas of the MPA/FL and or the Ultimate Astragal Line .
· Maintain excellent attendance.
JOB ANALYSIS
JOB KNOWLEDGE: No specific job knowledge is required to become a crewmember. Must be capable of on the job training.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Approximately 6 months of work experience is required to become skilled in all phases of the job. Must be capable of reading a tape measure at least to 32nd of an inch and new measuring equipment. Educational requirements due to accountability of production requires completion of 9th grade. Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
INITIATIVE & INGENUITY: Work priorities are determined by production paperwork and instructions from the operator, supervisor, or Plant Manager. The operator should quality check the raw and sub-finished goods materials frequently. Individual must be self-motivated working with limited supervision while following verbal and written instructions.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under specific direction of the Astragal Operator, Supervisor and Plant Manager, where goals and objectives are established. Coordinate work with material handler when necessary. Report any situations affecting machine center efficiency. Advise operator/supervisor of unusual circumstances as they occur.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR ERRORS: Errors may be serious involving inventory or missed shipments and will become apparent in daily processing. Maintain proper production and reject reporting.
CONTACT WITH OTHER: Regular contact with other employees, lead people and staff members where improper handling may affect results. Clear, concise communications skills are important.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Flow of work and character of duties involve performing frequent hand, wrist, and arm motions with the capability of standing the entire shift. Normal and/or corrected vision
and hearing are necessary with manual coordination some walking, bending, twisting, stooping and lifting of approximately 35 lbs., floor to shoulder. Must be able to stand during 10-hour shifts, except during breaks. Must also be able to slide, push a box and lift (over rollers) measuring approximately 8”x8”x96” weighing approximately 75 pounds. Must have good hand and eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable to using hand tools. Additionally, the crewmember will have to move a wheeled cart of approximately 200 lbs. with the help of another crewmember.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT: Damage to any equipment would result in a loss for the company.
WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with
no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Must be able to withstand heat in excess of 95 degrees.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as specified in the Endura’s Safety Manual. This responsibility necessitates wearing of proper personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs and ear muffs).
