**The Role**

As an IT/Cloud Consultant at Kyndryl, you will be re-energized with a fresh set of challenges, including working on large enterprise, fast-track infrastructure projects. **Architecture & Design**
+ Architect and deploy virtualization environments using RHEV and OVM for high availability and scalability.
+ Configure clusters, storage domains, and logical networks in RHEV using ovirt-engine and associated CLI tools.
+ Design and optimize OVM solutions using Oracle VM Manager with advanced features like server pools, clustering, and shared storage.
+ Integrate virtualized environments with enterprise storage solutions such as NFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel.
**Deployment & Configuration**
+ Automate the deployment of RHEV and OVM clusters using Ansible or custom scripts.
+ Configure high-performance virtual machines using virt-install, ovirt-vmconsole, and Oracle VM templates.
+ Set up and manage live migration of VMs using ovirt-hosted-engine or Oracle VM’s clustering features.
+ Implement advanced networking configurations like VLAN tagging, bonding, and SR-IOV for virtual machines.
**Performance Tuning & Optimization**
+ Analyze and tune host performance using tools like virsh, ovirt-log-collector, and Oracle VM utilities.
+ Optimize VM disk performance using storage tuning techniques such as preallocation, cache settings, and thin provisioning.
+ Troubleshoot resource contention issues using top, iostat, and RHEV’s integrated performance monitoring tools.
**High Availability & Disaster Recovery**
+ Implement and manage high availability clusters in RHEV and OVM using features like HA VMs and host fencing.
+ Configure and test disaster recovery solutions using ovirt-backup tools, VM snapshots, and Oracle VM Backup and Recovery utilities.
+ Ensure seamless failover of workloads across data centers by integrating with DR tools like Ansible or Oracle Data Guard.
**Security & Compliance**
+ Configure secure access to RHEV and OVM environments using role-based access control (RBAC).
+ Implement VM-level and host-level encryption using RHEL’s LUKS and Oracle’s Secure VM features.
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards such as GDPR and PCI-DSS through regular audits and vulnerability assessments.
**Automation & Scripting**
+ Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to manage VMs, snapshots, and backups.
+ Integrate RHEV and OVM with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI for infrastructure provisioning.
+ Automate routine maintenance tasks like patching, upgrades, and resource monitoring using Ansible.
**Monitoring & Troubleshooting**
+ Set up monitoring solutions for RHEV and OVM environments using Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios.
+ Diagnose and resolve complex virtualization issues related to CPU, memory, storage, and networking using logs and advanced tools like virt-top, vmstat, and ovm-diag.
+ Address cluster and node-level failures by analyzing core dumps, event logs, and debug outputs.
**Upgrades & Migrations**
+ Lead upgrades of RHEV environments to newer versions using engine-backup and RHEV lifecycle management tools.
+ Execute Oracle VM upgrades using in-place updates or Oracle VM CLI-based methods.
+ Plan and perform migrations from legacy virtualization platforms to RHEV or OVM using tools like virt-v2v.
**Documentation & Training**
+ Develop detailed technical documentation, including SOPs, architecture diagrams, and troubleshooting guides.
+ Provide technical training to internal teams on RHEV and OVM best practices and tools.
+ Act as a technical escalation point for complex virtualization-related incidents.
**Required Skills & Expertise**
+ **Virtualization Platforms:** Advanced knowledge of RHEV (oVirt) and OVM.
+ **Linux Expertise:** Proficiency in RHEL/CentOS, kernel tuning, and Linux system administration.
+ **Storage Integration:** Experience with storage protocols such as NFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel.
+ **Networking:** Hands-on expertise in VLANs, SR-IOV, bonding, and virtual networking.
+ **Scripting & Automation:** Proficiency in Python, Bash, Ansible, and REST API integrations.
+ **Monitoring Tools:** Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or other monitoring platforms.
+ **Troubleshooting:** Advanced diagnostic skills for virtualization, storage, and networking issues.

Required Technical and Professional Experience
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
+ 3-5 years of experience in administering OpenShift or similar container platforms.
+ Strong expertise in RedHat Linux administration.
+ Proficiency with Kubernetes and Docker.
+ Knowledge of networking, virtualization, and security best practices.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
+ Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes.
+ Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
+ Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
