Linux Administrator
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Linux Administrator to work in our IT Customer Engagement department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule Hybrid located out of our REC facility with every other Friday off. You will report to the senior manager. As an individual contributor, you will oversee administration of laboratory computer software systems, e.g., human resources, property management, financial systems, procurement, engineering. Support needs of the programming staff, prioritize service requests, develop, and recommend solutions to system needs, and resolve conflicts and problems that occur between end users. Monitor and control system access and ensure system availability for process needs. *Responsibilities Include:* * Maintain a secure, and scalable Linux infrastructure, following industry best practices for uptime and service continuity. * Ability to use command line operations and understands Linux kernel, code compilation, patching, and version upgrades. * Design and implement solutions tailored to projects within a Linux-focused technological framework. * Experience with SQL Server 2022, including configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning. * Familiar with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. * Experience troubleshooting in a Linux environment, diagnosing and resolving network, software, or hardware issues promptly. * Familiarization with package managers (APT, YUM, Zypper) to management software packages, including installation, updates, and removal. * Manage file systems, logical volumes, and network storage solutions, guaranteeing data integrity and accessibility. * Develop and maintain system documentation, ensuring a transparent and accessible knowledge base for all Linux systems. * Deploy software upgrades, patches, and hotfixes in alignment with IT policies, ensuring system security and stability. * Automate routine system tasks through scripting. * Primary point of contact for INL researchers, providing support for Linux-related questions and issues. * This position closes: 1-10-25 *Minimum Requirements: * * Bachelors in related field and 5 years of relevant experience; or Masters and 2 years of relevant experience; or in lieu of degree 11 years of relevant experience. * A minimum of 2 years of experience in Linux system administration. * Experience with SQL databases, including design, implementation, and maintenance. * Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl) to automate tasks and streamline processes. * A solid understanding of networking principles and protocols. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. *The ideal candidate will possess:* * Industry-recognized certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), LFCE (Linux Foundation Certified Engineer), or CompTIA Linux . * Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. * Participation in open-source projects or active membership in relevant professional communities. *Job Information: * * The pay range for this position is $75,804 - $155,496.
