Role Overview
The ideal candidate will be a Linux System Administrator/Engineer with very good Linux knowledge and experience on physical, virtual and/or cloud-based servers. The candidate will be part of the Global Linux Team supporting and managing the majority Redhat Linux estate using available tools and utilities. An ideal candidate would have experience working within a financial institution or similar environment.

Role Responsibilities

Responsible for providing technical support for the Unix Server Infrastructure including day to day administration of Servers, incident response and remediation, as well as implementation of new technologies. It is extremely important to the company that production server and storage systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible.To carry out Requests and Tasks as per ITIL standard requirements.To provide root cause analysis of system performance and failure related issues.To work on projects and provide close liaison with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new servers, functionality, software tools and initiatives into the Production environment.To work closely with management, team members, and all colleagues in IT.To review & recommend options to improve the effectiveness of the Linux infrastructure and Linux estate.Continually looking at ways to improve infrastructure, for a faster and more efficient environment.Maintains the operational health of the systems infrastructure and supports Applications and Users which are dependent upon the company’s infrastructure.

Experience / Competences
Essential

The Linux Engineer shall have a good understanding of Linux based operating systems, especially Redhat. Knowledge of Linux server architecture within a financial services environment is a must.2-3 years IT operations with strong understanding of IT infrastructure, theories, principles, and practices5 years Unix/Linux Server experience, as well as general IT principles.Good Knowledge of Virtualization conceptsGood knowledge of Bash shell scripting and/or Ansible.TCP/IP networking concepts.
