Maxar is currently seeking a Linux Engineer to join our team. This role can be performed in our Maxar facility located in Herndon, Virginia.
As a Maxar team member, you will have the opportunity to closely support our mission partners, and your work will have a direct impact on mission imperatives. In this role, you'll work closely with other software developers as well our infrastructure and cybersecurity teams leveraging open-source tools to create and maintain a diverse range of applications.

Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to our delivery approach, anchored by a need to work quickly in support of our missions.What You’ll Be Doing:
Infrastructure team members focus on several things on any given day. The main objective is monitoring and acting on any outages on the platform to include hardware and software. Engineers also engage with the tenants and users of the Openstack Cloud Platform via chat services, assisting with any requests they may have. When not monitoring the system or engaging with users, a few things you might be working on could be upgrading/deploying applications, R&D on exposing new technology/services within Openstack or reviewing and updating existing documentation for better readability. Lastly, you may also be included in future hardware planning as we're continuing to grow our footprint and our mission partners have no shortage of unique and challenging problems to solve.

Design and implement Linux-based systems for various projects and initiatives Maintain and troubleshoot existing Linux-based systems to ensure their functionality and stability Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand project requirements Develop and implement solutions to resolve complex technical issues related to Linux systems Lead the administration of Linux systems and resources, ensuring performance, security, and compliance Design and manage application deployment using Ansible, driving automation and efficiency Create and implement complex Ansible playbooks for application deployment across environments Ensure deployed solutions comply with all applicable security policies, regulations, and best practices Troubleshoot, diagnose and remediate a variety of systems issues that may not have previously documented solutions Implement monitoring, security automation, and backup strategies to ensure system reliability and data integrityMinimum Requirements:
Eight (6) years' experience in system administration or system engineering Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in related discipline and a minimum of 6 years of professional level experience. Experienced in the administration and systems engineering in Linux Experience with RedHat Operating Systems, networking, and on-premises systems Must meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security Top Secret SCI with a CI PolygraphDesired Skills:
Experience with OpenStack or OpenShift Configuration management and change management experience Advanced proficiency in Ansible, including YAML for playbook creation and configuration management Experience with the Creation of Bash Scripts and ansible playbooks#cjpost

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
● The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $115,000.00 - $191,000.00 annually.For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
