Linux Server Administrator
Job Summary:  The Linux Server Administrator is responsible for managing and monitoring several Red Hat Linux based, Cache database environments at the core of the CaroMont EMR infrastructure. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, using vendor provided utilities to monitor and manage environments, capacity planning, performing operating system, Caché, and Epic application upgrades, and executing database recovery procedures when necessary as well as manage storage area network (SAN) environments. The individual in this role is instrumental in ensuring that the Epic and SAN systems and the underlying database is secure, highly available, and performs optimally to meet the needs of our users.

 

Qualifications:   Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related field from a recognized college or university or equivalent IT experience required.  Equivalent experience and training preferred would be recognized industry certifications such as Cache Certified Expert, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Storage+, CompTIA Linux+, or various Red Hat certifications (Red Hat Certified System Administrator or Red Hat Certified System Engineer).Any SAN certifications are a plus.  Two years previous training and experience building, maintaining and supporting Microsoft Windows Server operating systems is required.  At least one-year direct, hands on experience designing, implementing and supporting Linux servers is required.  Candidates should also have experience in and working knowledge of general networking, backup and recovery, virtualization and storage area networks. Caché system and Linux storage systems training will be provided, if needed. Candidate must complete and pass training for both systems to remain employed.  Candidates should have the ability to learn technical concepts quickly and have the mental flexibility to adapt to the on-going needs of the environment and new tools as they come out. This role requires strong communication skills to communicate with both technical and non-technical teams about system impacts of various infrastructure and application activities. Strong technical documentation skills and the ability to conduct research into issues, standards and products are also required.
