Ford's high performance computing platform delivers computer aided engineering simulation, graphical rendering, and analytics capabilities to our global product development team. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux Systems Engineer to join the HPC Supercomputing platform team. This position will focus on delivering highly optimized CAE solutions to Ford engineers. The position involves integrating and maintaining CAE applications, profiling and tuning CAE workflows in addition to delivering customer support and user-facing tooling development. **What you'll do...**
+ Install, profile, tune and support CAE applications and workloads across the HPC environment.
+ Evaluate CAE workloads on latest CPU and GPU technologies for efficient solution delivery.
+ Develop CLI tooling and API’s that customers consume to streamline access to HPC infrastructure.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux systems, networking, storage, and CAE applications.
+ Develop and maintain documentation for software installation and procedures.
+ Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to ensure seamless integration of HPC resources and scaling of applications.
+ Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and best practices in HPC technologies
**You'll have...**
+ A good command and understanding of Linux operating systems, preferably in an HPC environment.
+ Proficiency programming in one or more languages, preferably python, go or bash scripting.
+ Familiarity with how to scale applications and the metrics collection, analysis, and visualization tools used to identify bottlenecks like Prometheus and Grafana.
+ Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. The ability to define what problems need to be solved.
+ Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
+ Strong communication and collaboration skills.
**Even better, you may have...**
+ Additional favorable experiences:
+ Familiarity with Batch Scheduling concepts (ex: PBS Pro or Slurm).
+ Familiarity with distributed and parallel computing concepts.
+ Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
+ Familiarity and experience with CAE or scientific application
+ Experience with monitoring, dashboards, and metrics collections tools (ex: Prometheus, Grafana or similar).
