Seeking a well-organized person able to communicate effectively with the 400+ members of a life-long learning organization affiliated with Iona University. Good computer skills, or a willingness to learn required.
This is as part-time position. The Director overseas the daily operations of LIRIC and reports to LIRIC’s Executive Board that formulates its by-laws, policies and procedures. Director must be physically present when LIRIC meets at the off-campus location on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursday. The Director’s physical presence may be required on occasional Fridays. Throughout the year, the Director is responsible for assuring that LIRIC’s needs are met.
Responsibilities Include:
Oversee the daily operations of LIRIC Offer advice and council to LIRIC’s Board Work with LIRIC Treasurer to create and manage spending & revenue Maintain data base of member information (Excel). Oversee communications with members via eblast (Mailchimp or Constant Contact, both easy to learn) and mailings Assist with design of Course Catalog and Intersession Brochures (Publisher. Also easy to learn.) Attend monthly meetings with the Executive Board and Annual meeting with Iona Advisory Committee. Remain current with Curriculum Committee via minutes. Liaison between LIRIC and Iona, including Dean’s Office. Work with various college personnel: document & printing services, IT, facilities, campus security, mailroom, Accounts Payable, Purchasing Work with Iona’s webmaster to maintain LIRIC’s website, and with Iona’s Finance to manage online membership payments Use Iona’s online systems to manage submission of invoices & check requests, reservations of rooms at Iona, and printing requests Liaison between LIRIC and landlord (currently Temple Israel) Oversee rental contracts, and facilities (furniture, equipment & hospitality) requestsWhen LIRIC is in session:
Provide welcoming presence during class time Ensure that Presenters have the equipment and handouts they need Troubleshoot during LIRIC’s day In person time:Fall session: Roughly 9:30 to 3:30 Mon, Tues, Thurs and occasional Fridays 12:45 – 1:30 for 8 weeks (skipping Thanksgiving week) October to the first week of December.
Start time depends on how quickly you can set up. Classes for which you need to be present begin at 10:30 and end at 3:15. You may be able to leave a few minutes earlier or later depending on what you have to put away.
Winter/January Intersession: One day a week, for 4 weeks (probably Thursday) in January. Classes begin at 11 and end at 2:15.
Spring session: Roughly 9:30 to 3:30 Mon, Tues, Thurs and occasional Fridays 12:45 – 1:30 for 8 weeks (skipping one week in April for spring break) March to the first week of May.
Start time depends on how quickly you can set up. Classes end at 3:15 Classes for which you need to be present begin at 10:30 and end at 3:15. You may be able to leave a few minutes earlier or later depending on what you have to put away.
Summer/June Intersession: One day a week, for 4 weeks (probably Tuesday) in June. Classes begin at 11 and end at 2:15.
Salary Range: $32,000-33,000
