GM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lithium Process Technical Specialist to join our team at Warren, MI. The candidate will play a pivotal role in leading the effort and responsibility for identifying, designing, developing, and implementing process improvements, as well as supporting strategic site initiatives. The initial focus will be on developing a Li conversion process design that will drive the implementation of the overall commissioning and startup plan for the refinery.
Roles & Responsibilities
Identify, design, and develop Lithium refiner process enhancements for efficiency and sustainability while keeping up with industry trends and best practices for continuous improvement.
Lead Process Design and oversee the commissioning and startup plan for the Lithium Refinery.
Recognize challenges and create mitigation strategies for smooth startups while working with cross-functional teams to optimize the process and align with company goals.
Conduct studies to reduce variations and perform design of experiments (DOEs) on chemical conversion processes and develop mass & energy balances.
Implement Quality Control Systems for monitoring process capability.
Prepare updates and documentation to protect intellectual property.
Set up and operate lab scale and pilot processing equipment.
Assist purchasing with equipment procurement, proposal evaluations, and equipment delivery with manufacturers to meet objectives.
Aid in transferring processes to pilot and manufacturing lines and work with teams to improve quality and efficiency in manufacturing.
Foster a collaborative workplace for innovation and improvement and support and guide team members for their professional growth.

Additional Job DescriptionRequired Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
8 years of experience in Chemical Processing, Running a pilot Plant or manufacturing plant process design
PhD degree preferred
Proven track record in process technology, chemical engineering, and process improvement.
Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, technologies, and industry standards.
General experience in an industrial environment of chemical manufacturing and specially in Li conversion and refinery process design.
Demonstrated experience in solving process yield, throughput and product quality problems.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions.
Strong leadership and team-building abilities, with a focus on fostering collaboration and driving results.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills combined with the ability to make engineering decisions based available data and experience.
Willing to travel 15%
