Job Purpose
The Lithium Product Engineer will support the design, development, and testing of lithium-ion cells used in applications such as motive power, reserve power, and energy storage systems. This entry-level position will focus on research, analysis, and collaboration within cross-functional teams to improve cell performance and contribute to manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Research & Development: Assist in researching new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance lithium-ion cell performance, energy density, and safety. Testing & Evaluation: Support the testing and development of new lithium-ion cells, focusing on cell architecture, electro-chemical composition, and performance testing. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams of chemists, materials engineers, and mechanical engineers to support design and development. Documentation & Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, design specifications, and test plans. Quality Assurance: Assist in implementing quality control measures and analyzing production-related issues. Project Management: Support small project tasks, ensuring timelines and resources are managed efficiently. Continuous Improvement: Participate in identifying opportunities for process and product improvements.Position Location
The location is still being finalized for this position. It will be based in either Greenville, SC or Columbia, SC.
Travel ExpectationsThere will be 50% travel for the first year of employment and then 25% travel thereafter on an ongoing basis. You must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent). Internship or 0-2 years of experience in lithium-ion battery technology or related fields. Basic understanding of lithium-ion cell design, chemistry, and assembly preferred. Familiarity with testing methodologies and industry regulations (UN/DOT, IEC, ISO) is a plus. Strong teamwork and communication skills.General Job Requirements Generic
