Role and responsibilities

You are driving assessment, tests, design solutions and specifications for securing and optimizing the lifetime of EUV optical surfaces and coatings - to enable cost effective and reliable EUV system performance for all EUV customers. The focus will be on assuring the lifetime of the collector (source module)

Main responsibilities         

EUV coating lifetime generalist that should operate independently in relevant projects to ensure that the lifetime of the product is met.Clarify the loads to the coating, perform a lifetime risk assessmentDefine and execute tests to reduce the lifetime risk and/or to proof that the lifetime will be met in the scanner and write/review reports on outcome with clear final conclusions on lifetime performance and/or recommendations on way forwardExecute complex correlation analysis to find root cause of degradationAnalyze existing (customer) dataSolve problems/escalationsClearly communicate and align with internal and external stakeholders

Education and experienceMaster or PhD, preferably Material Science, Chemical engineering or PhysicsPreferable 2 to 5 years working experienceRelevant experience and knowledge of surface material interaction,Experience with plasma material interactionsExperience with vacuum systemsExperience with coatings and thin film deposition techniquesExperience with surface analysis techniquesExperimentalistExperience with data analysis and modeling (preferably with Matlab or Python);

Position in the organization

The design engineer of Optics Lifetime reports to the group Optics Lifetime (D&E MC Defectivity and Optics Lifetime Performance) and is contributing to multidisciplinary projects. The group’s mission is to protect, predict and validate the transmission of all EUV optical surfaces and coatings of the EUV system over lifetime.

We drive system design requirements to protect and clean EUV optical surfaces and coatingsWe develop knowledge and models (scaling laws) to predict and prevent EUV (plasma) driven contamination and (coating) degradation mechanismsWe provide means and methods for full lifetime validation and EUV (plasma) qualification

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
