Litigation Operations Attorney

We are seeking an attorney to join Litigation Operations, a team covering discovery, data governance, preservation and the Managing Attorney's office functions. This attorney position will help support global discovery, data governance and preservation functions for Morgan Stanley.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
> Advise internal and external counsel on complex discovery matters, including but not limited to data identification and collection, preservation and disposition; cross-jurisdictional privacy concerns; document review workflows; and eDiscovery technology and tools.
> Liaise with other Firm business as well as infrastructure groups. Partner with Technology regularly regarding data collection and governance of firm systems and data.
> Collaborate with Technology, Litigation and Outside Counsel to facilitate and draft affidavits, discovery protocols, discovery responses and other discovery-related writings.
> Draft and update Litigation Department policies and procedures. Suggest and implement improvements in processes where needed.
> Conduct trainings for internal clients regarding technology in litigation or other related topics.
> Develop policies and best practices for complying with discovery and document retention / litigation hold obligations.
> Manage relationships with external legal support vendors in collaboration with other legal and business stakeholders.
> Other special projects and duties as assigned.

> J.D. degree and member of good standing of any US State Bar.
> 3 years of relevant legal experience with a focus on large-scale litigations, information governance, and regulatory matters. Experience and familiarity with financial services industry clients preferred.
> Knowledgeable of eDiscovery law and applications, privacy laws, emerging technology, forensics and information governance technology.
> Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal direction.
> Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong communication, reasoning and interpersonal skills.
> Experience managing a fast-paced workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues. Being flexible is essential.
> Project management expertise. Ability to effectively lead a meeting or project with multiple stakeholders with varying perspectives.
> Experience applying good judgment and legal knowledge to problem solve by developing practical business solutions.
> Ability to deliver high quality output with a focus on detail, accuracy and completeness.
> Works well both independently and in team settings. Experience working with global teams.
> Proficient with Microsoft products, including SharePoint, and has a general understanding of structured data applications.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000.00 and $190,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
