Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Governess to join their family in Dubai, providing focused care and education for a 7-year-old with special needs, alongside his two older brothers (ages 10 and 11). In school holidays, the Governess will be in charge of arranging activities for all the boys – the family will provide an extra pair of hands on those days. This role will suit a Governess who has good experience working with children who have special need as well as having qualifications.
Job specification:
• Primary Focus: Supporting the 7-year-old, who has special needs, with daily routines including swimming, eating, educational activities, and play. You will also provide help with calming him during travel and assist in managing household tasks related to his care. Attending school with him will be required.
• Sole Charge & Shared Care: While your main focus will be the youngest child, you will also occasionally work with the older brothers and ensure their well-being during school holidays by organising activities for all three.
• Educational & Emotional Support: You will be instrumental in helping the 7-year-old progress with his development, applying patience and knowledge of special needs education.
• Household Support: You will have assistance from other household staff, including a housekeeper and cook, so your focus will remain on the children.
Candidate specification:
• Special Needs Experience: You must have previous experience working with children with special needs, ideally in a similar environment. A background in early years psychology, special needs education, or a related qualification is highly desirable.
• Patience & Calm: The ideal candidate will be patient, calm, and capable of managing children with unique needs.
• Flexibility
• Pet-Friendly: The family has two dogs and a bird, so comfort around pets is a must.
• Family Dynamic Understanding: You should be able to understand the dynamics of three close-in-age brothers and be ready to manage their needs and personalities.
• Open to travelling with the family.
