Compensation

$22.60 - $27.06 Per Hour

Job Summary

The Loader Operator operates a straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to left and transport aggregates.

Safety

• Participating actively in company safety programs, including safety huddles, one-on-one safety conversations, and reporting of close calls 

• Fostering the safety culture by making good/safe decisions 

• Participating in safety incident investigation and following through on any corrective actions 

• Following all safety policies and procedures, including LOTOTO, Motor Vehicle Policy, Drug & Alcohol Policy, etc. 

• Wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all tasks assigned 

• Operates plant and performs maintenance in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all applicable policies

Quality

Ensuring aggregate loaded into the haul truck are the correct size for the crushing plant or cold feed bin prior to dumping  

Identifying contamination in aggregate prior to dumping in cold feed bin 

Being mindful not to overfill cold feed bins 

Monitoring shot rock for conformity, identifying unsound materials such as marble/shale 

Uniformly working the muck pile horizontally across the face to blend 

Functional/Technical Skills

• Performing pre-shift and post-shift inspections of loader 

• Identifying and reporting equipment malfunctions to the supervisor so they can be addressed in a timely manner for proper repair 

• Operating the loader safely and efficiently 

• Monitoring equipment gauges  

• Performing routine maintenance on loader, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning 

Teamwork And Communication

Communicates with the haul truck driver or asphalt plant operator constantly to maintain a safe and productive work environment

Education And Minimum Experience Minimum high school diploma or GED Valid driver’s license. 1 or more years as a heavy equipment operator Working Conditions And Physical Demands Ability to sit for hours at a time Ability to lift up to 30lbs Ability to kneel, stoop, bend, crawl, and climb ladders Core Competencies Ability to read and understand operations and maintenance manuals Ability to be adaptable to various working sites and conditions Ability to work on assigned task with minimal supervision Proven ability to work with others as a team Responsible, reliable and dependable
