SUMMARY

The Regulatory Quality Control Specialist I is responsible for performing a review of loan data ensuring accuracy, adherence to all internal and external compliance, regulatory and audit requirements are met.

This position supports the servicing of Consumer, Commercial, and Specialty Lending for First Interstate Bank.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned.

Performs reviews to ensure all applicable lending compliance regulations are adhered to, up to and including:HMDA, Flood Disaster Protection, CRA, REG Z, Fair Housing, ECOA, and applicable state laws, lending and banking regulationsPerforms file review to ensure Business Units are performing tasks in an accurate and quality fashion, including –Receipt and review of required documentationAccurate data input to LOS for reportingTimely imaging of documentation necessary for file reviewAssists internal First Interstate Business Unit associates with the understanding of identified errors and resolution to prevent future occurrences.Participates in internal and external training to maintain knowledge of Bank products and keep abreast of all credit policies, procedures and system changes. Actively ensures compliance with the Code of Ethics and all Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies and procedures. Actively participates in any required corporate and business line training in these areas. Understands and follows internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes, as required for this position. Loan product and process knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year College or University preferred; two (2) years’ work experience in a financial institution within loan processing or call center, with knowledge in consumer and commercial lending and loans and applicable loan documents, preferred. Experience in quality control work preferred. Understanding of loan accounting systems; loan payment types and processing and ability to research and resolve accounting errors preferred.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Advanced personal computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft EXCEL, WORD, and e-mail; self-starter and works with minimal direction; strong verbal and written communication skills; Interpersonal skills and team orientation; Ability to meet deadlines; ability to appropriately escalate issues requiring problem solving and decision making.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, peers, or other business partners.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate and percent

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrates critical thinking tendencies to address problems decisively and to propose sustainable solutions. Accepts shared ownership and accountability for results.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk & use hands to finger, handle, or feel.  The employee frequently is required to sit.  The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee may lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

We offer a competitive total compensation package including base salary and benefits. The anticipated pay range for this position is $23.61 to $35.42 per hour in WA and depends on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, education, and geographic location. Benefits include, but are not limited to, medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability benefits and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings account, employee assistance program, 401(k), Paid Time Off (new hires accrue at .069 per hours worked which equates to approximately 18 days per year inclusive of paid sick time) and up to 11 paid Federal holidays.
