Local Lead Business Area Controller
Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a business partner to the relevant local business manager, the local division management team as well as the lead a local finance team to optimize the financial performance within a local division. In addition, you will be an active member of the divisional core controller team and actively participate to the global division success, by thinking one level up. Each day, you will support effective business decisions by monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting financial data to evaluate various business alternatives. You will also showcase your expertise by recommending the most appropriate business solutions.The work model for the role is: #LI-HybridThis role is contributing to the Local Division Motion Traction in Germany. Main stakeholders are the global division CFO, the local business area controller, the local division manager and the respective local management team.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tDriving the definition and implementation of global standards and business specific guidelines to ensure continuous improvement in financial control process within your area of responsibility.•\tLeading, providing guidance, and facilitating best practices to ensure alignment and consistency of controlling practices, in alignment with MOTR best practice.•\tEnsuring timely and efficient communication with relevant internal customers and business partners to identify and discuss issues for improvement of operations, work quality, and efficiency for your area of responsibility.•\tSecuring transparency and accuracy in financial reporting and disclosures.•\tSupport in the integration of a recent acquisition into the overall ABB processes & systems•\tFacilitating the change-management process of an ERP project & entity merger•\tManage finance processes and bring together the teams in multiple locations locally (Berlin & Minden), ensuring a most efficient controlling operations built on utilizing synergies to the extent sensible•\tActively promote building and utilizing synergies on local division level across all functionsYou will join a strong performing, motivated and diverse team, where you will be able to thrive.
Qualifications for the roleYou are highly skilled in working with computerized accounting systems and financial reporting software, including SAP (FI, CO, PS, MM) and PowerBI, and have a strong understanding of the finance and accounting sector.You have more than 5 years of experience in a business controller role, in an industrial environment, demonstrating advanced skills in financial reporting and analysis.You are used to act as a leader (even if you haven’t had direct reports yet)Possess a solid knowledge of accounting standards such as US GAAP and HGB, with a proven track record in corporate environments, though experience in industries like trade, banking, or consulting is equally valuable.You are passionate about managing integration and change processes, ensuring smooth transitions and driving improvements in dynamic environments.Hold a successfully completed bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or similar studies. Leadership experience is an advantage but not mandatoryYou are at ease communicating fluently in English, written and spoken, ensuring effective collab-oration in international settings. Proficiency in German is an advantage.You hold a current, unrestricted work permit valid in Germany and meet all country-specific requirements for employment eligibility.
