As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing a crew of locators, ensuring the safe and accurate identification of underground utilities. You’ll play a key role in maintaining project timelines, providing training, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and company procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of utility locating equipment, and a commitment to delivering quality service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND CORE COMPETENCIES Responsible for supervising, coordinating and leading locating staff to ensure the proper and safe completion of the required work. Oversees locating assignments and monitors timely completion of locate tickets in accordance with Nebraska 811 statues. Assists staff, ensures training is conducted and evaluates the performance of locating crew members. Reports to the supervisor all special occurrences, such as emergency and high-profile projects. Performs emergency and overtime work on short notice and at odd hours as directed. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. + Assists Supervisor and Locating Coordinator in prioritizing and assigning work for staff, ensures staff is properly trained, tracks and monitors performance, completes performance appraisals, training requirements, and hiring recommendations. + Reviews, approves, and assists with various reports, forms, and job-related papers to include, but not limited to, timesheets, incident/accident reports, damage investigations, On Time Performance (OTP), etc. + Assists with the development and implementation of short and long-term goals and objectives for the department. + Serves as an escalation resource for department staff when dealing with customer issues and ensures resolution of customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner. + Assists Locating Coordinator with damage investigations and helps gather information necessary for billing purposes. + Conducts safety inspections and ensures safety procedures and practices are followed as established by LES. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED + Strong planning and organizational skills are essential. + Expert ability to read, interpret and perform work from construction prints. + Expert ability to apply knowledge of electricity fundamentals, theory, and basic circuitry, threephase alternating current electricity as applied to electric power systems including application of voltage, current, impedance, inductance, capacitance, power factor, real and apparent power, transformer operating characteristics, transformer banks/connections, etc. + Expert ability to apply knowledge and understanding of Nebraska 811 statutes and regulations. REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE + Associate degree or technical degree in area of assignment, and + At least five years of progressively responsible utility experience, or + An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS + Valid driver’s license *Candidate may be eligible for a higher starting salary outside of the posted range based on experience.
