Position Summary:
Install, maintain, and repair locks, key systems, and door hardware for University Hospital. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. No patient care assignment.

Detailed responsibilities:
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
* RECORDS - Develop and maintain administrative records, reports, and statistics as required
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* MAINTENANCE - Troubleshoot/repair electronic key card systems
* MAINTENANCE - Install, repair, rebuild, and service mechanical electrical locking devices, using hand tools and special equipment
* MAINTENANCE - Disassemble locks, such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, and repair or replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts
* MAINTENANCE - Insert new or repaired tumblers in to lock to change combination
* MAINTENANCE - Cut new or duplicate keys, using key cutting machine
* MAINTENANCE - Move lock pick in cylinder to open door locks without keys
* MAINTENANCE - Open safe locks by drilling
* MAINTENANCE - May keep records of company locks and keys
* SECURITY - Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed
* HAZARDS - Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations
* SECURITY - Escort personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings
* SECURITY - Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities
* SECURITY - Assist security officer in securing patient valuables or lost and found articles; maintain logs of items received
* RECORDS - Skilled in using records and record maintenance
* MAINTENANCE - Able to use hand and power tools applicable to trade; must also be skilled in using PCs particularly in a Window-based operating environment

Qualifications

Education:
Essential:
* High School or GED Equivalent

Experience:
Essential:
1 year Locksmith experience

Nonessential:
Security experience in a hospital setting

Credentials:
Essential:
* Valid New Mexico Driver's License
* UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit w/in 60 days
Nonessential:
* Cert Reg Locksmith by Associated Locksmiths of America

Physical Conditions:
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
