Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The FM Technician Mechanical Trades performs under the direction of the Lock Shop supervisor.
Duties include:
+ Perform all FM Tech Mechanical trade maintenance work.
+ Tasks may include but are not limited to: maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components in assigned campus buildings focused on the Locksmith trade discipline.
+ This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
+ Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years’ experience. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
+ Minimum of five years’ experience handling commercial locking systems preferred.
+ Possess strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to provide solutions independently during service visits.
+ Possess basic low voltage electrical skills to troubleshoot access control system
+ Ability to manage preventative maintenance of campus locking systems.
+ Ability to work and perform alone or in groups to accomplish daily tasks.
+ Ability to troubleshoot low voltage electronic locking hardware.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and initiate repairs of campus door and lock issues.
+ Basic carpentry skills as required to maintain and install locking hardware preferred.
+ Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension) required
+ Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
+ Computer literate and knowledge and skill with Google Applications, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
