The Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods, materials, and resources across the supply chain. This role involves managing shipping schedules, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining inventory levels, and collaborating with various stakeholders to meet delivery timelines and cost objectives.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 

Shipment Coordination and Management:

Plan and coordinate the transportation of goods, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.Schedule and monitor shipments using logistics systems and software.Track and resolve issues related to shipping delays, damaged goods, or misrouted shipments.

 

Inventory Management:

Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.Ensure accurate records of goods received, stored, and shipped.Collaborate with warehouse teams to optimize storage and inventory accuracy.

 

Vendor and Carrier Relations:

Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.Negotiate shipping rates and service agreements to optimize costs.Evaluate vendor performance and address service issues.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure adherence to all transportation, import/export, and safety regulations.Prepare and maintain documentation required for customs clearance, audits, or inspections.

 

Process Improvement:

Analyze logistics workflows and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost savings, and accuracy.Implement solutions to enhance supply chain operations.

 

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Generate and review reports on shipment status, costs, and inventory.Use data to forecast trends and inform decision-making.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with purchasing, production, and sales teams to align logistics operations with business needs.Support special projects, such as new product launches or distribution expansions.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

Education and Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.2-5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or a related role.

 

Skills and Competencies:

 

Strong understanding of supply chain processes, transportation modes, and inventory management.Proficiency in logistics and inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or WMS).Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communication and negotiation skills.

 

Certifications (Preferred but not required):

Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).Certified Logistics Technician (CLT).OSHA Certification (if applicable).
