Logistics Appointment Clerk Lead

Summary

This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the Perdue appointment team with daily operations of appointment scheduling/late coding. Responsible for ensuring that all scheduling is accurate, provide training and support and maintain excellent communication with sales, logistics and dispatch. Responsibilities include cross functional efforts in covering the appointment desk as well as late coding and other areas assigned. This role involves managing scheduling workflows, resolving issues, weekly reporting and promoting operational efficiency.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Lead Perdue appointment team 

Stand in for or train a team member in any variant in the appointment scheduling/late coding capacity. Monitor appointment variant reports to ensure scheduling is complete and accurate. Support and assist transportation/logistics supervisor in mission to produce scheduling efficiencies. Extension of and support role in the reduction of appointment misses/issues.

 

Lead Perdue appointment team daily to assist with appointment accuracy, effective communication. 

Identify inefficiencies in scheduling and carrier compliance and provide findings to Transportation/Logistics Supervisor while offering additional training where suited.  Manage “Appointment issues” report and identify trends/areas of opportunity.  Produce various late code related reports as needed.  Support or train a team member in any appointment variant as well as any late coding capacity.

 

Conduct weekly and monthly trainings.

Conduct monthly trainings on supportive topics in appointment scheduling.  Re-train associates that have identified deficiencies and need additional support. Train and mentor, all new hired associates.  Collaborate with region supervisors, sales, logistics to push efficient appointment scheduling.

 

Coverage for leadership when not available

Stand in as backup for Transportation Logistics Supervisors when needed. Provide weekly reporting to Transportation Logistics Supervisor by identifying deficiencies and provide action steps for improvement via training plan. Conduct quarterly learning sessions of all appointment clerks highlighting efficiency methods to streamline scheduling and reduce scheduling misses. Utilize scorecard to track training and knowledge progress. Other duties as assigned by Manager. Education

REQUIRED:  High school graduate with 2 to 3 years’ experience in transportation and a strong knowledge of DOT regulations.

PREFERRED:   College degree in a related field.
 

Experience Requirements Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong systems aptitude and must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Understanding of Transportation Operations and Supply Chain Management.

 

Experience Preferred Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
