Job Summary

As a Logistics Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing all inbound collect freight using the Manhattan TMS system, ensuring timely and safe delivery to Pet Valu’s distribution centers. Your primary responsibility will be tendering all inbound freight requests, utilizing pre-established and spot rates as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:Carrier Tendering: Use Manhattan TMS to manage and tender all inbound freight requests.Communication: Communicate effectively via e-mail and phone with carriers, DC teams, and other stakeholders.Transportation Knowledge: Apply your knowledge of transportation to source and negotiate with carriers, calculate lead times, and resolve customs issues.TMS Experience: Leverage your experience with TMS to improve processes and service quality.Collaboration: Work independently and collaboratively, both remotely and in the office.Data Management: Perform data entry, review and analyze metrics, and maintain clean inbound transportation data.Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers.Invoice Validation: Validate invoicing and resolve invoice discrepancies.KPI Accountability: Meet freight cost and service KPIs.You should have strong communication skills, experience or education in supply chain, and experience with supply chain or TMS systems, preferably Manhattan TMS. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety – Operate in a way that builds trust with our customers, pets, and ACEs.Ensure all orders are built into loads that fall within service level parametersPrioritize and tender loads in a timely manner with clear expectations to our carriersHold carriers accountable to the tendered expectationsCompassion – Communicate and act from the heart with genuine care and courtesy.  Create and maintain carrier profiles and scorecards and relay metrics to carriers on regular cadenceUpdate and report on DC Inbound No-Shows and work on root cause fixes to avoid future recurrencesVacation / sick time coverage as necessaryExpertise – Provide knowledge in an understanding and informative way. Optimize and build loads based on best cost and service offersWork with cross department colleagues on opportunities for freight consolidation or shipment frequencies to further better Pet Valu’s cost, service and/or carbon footprintPrepare and present weekly Financial and Service metrics along with root cause fixes as applicable to Senior ManagerKnowledge of the North American transportation marketEfficiency – Use time and resources responsibly.Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures & Process Maps as applicableEnsure proper time management between daily tasks and other responsibilities up to and including participation in internal/external meetingsParticipate in project work as necessary

Skills, Experience, Education, Certifications

Degree or certification in a related field or equivalent experienceMinimum of 2 years' experience in supply chain / logistics activitiesKnowledge of the North American transportation marketEffective and clear communicator and negotiatorExperience working with TMS and ERP systems
