Powell in Houston, TX, is currently seeking an experienced domestic and international Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager, recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) on logistics management. They are responsible for the development and execution of logistical sourcing strategies achieve the best outcomes for the customer and the business. Those responsibilities include logistics management strategies and execution, supplier relationship management, negotiation, risk management and supplier performance management. The logistics manager is also responsible for leading and directing the logistics team consisting of supervisors, shipping coordinators, and shipping leads and material handlers.

Supervision
+ Direct Report: Logistics Supervisor
+ Indirect Reports: Shipping leads, Shipping Coordinators, Material Handlers
Essential Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement negotiation strategies for logistic services including but not limited to all types of inbound and outbound transportation, warehousing, crating/packaging, and freight bill auditing.
+ Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
+ Manage the day-to-day inbound and outbound logistics execution to include LTL, FTL and Heavy Haul shipments for both domestic and international destinations. (Truck, Ocean, Air)
+ Coordinate with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure seamless execution of logistics operations.
+ Direct supplier evaluation and selection, negotiating and interpreting contracts between Powell and global logistics suppliers. Ensure supplier and Powell compliance with those contracts.
+ Develops and is accountable for departmental budget for day-to-day operating and long-range planning.
+ Provide leadership and drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Lead member of the Logistics Practice Council for all Powell businesses.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Minimum of 8 years logistics and logistics contract development, negotiation and contract management experience, preferably in the electrical/power component industry.
+ Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Operations or related field.
+ Significant experience in heavy haul transportation management, both domestic and international shipments.
+ Applied knowledge of OSHA, Frank-Dodd Act (Conflict Minerals), DOT, EAR/ITAR, California Transparency in Supply Chain, import/export trade compliance requirements and regulations and NAFTA and other trade agreements.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Certified Professional in Logistics Management is an advantage.
+ Experience in an EPC environment executing major projects.
Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements
+ High level of negotiation skills (tactics, techniques, strategies).
+ Experience with cost analysis and financial management / budget management.
+ Must have a solid understanding of total cost, target cost and the time value of money.
+ Strong PC application skills, including complement of Microsoft Office software; Previous work with Oracle is an advantage.
+ Experience in a corporate environment is an advantage.
+ Must be able to communicate effectively across multiple cultures and work well in a global Team environment.
+ Strong planning/project management skills.
+ Leadership and mentoring skills, developing team members to be successful logistics professionals.
Working & Environmental Conditions
+ Temperature controlled working environment. Some outside activities may be required.
+ This position may travel out-of-town to attend training and meetings.
+ Typical office environment: may experience minor discomfort from extensive use of a computer display and keyboard; travel between buildings on campus and between campuses.
+ Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
+ Sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time.
+ Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
