**Job Description**
BAE Systems is hiring a Logistics Manager to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business. This role will mainly focus on Transportation Management based in York, PA. The role will also oversee shipping management as needed. The Logistics Manager will lead, mentor, and develop a team of up to five direct reports. This role reports to the Director of Materials Management.
Location/Schedule/Travel:
+ This role is onsite and will be based in York, Pennsylvania.
+ This position will work on a 9/80 schedule where you will have every other Friday off.
+ The schedule usually begins around 7:30AM EST.
+ This role will require up to 10% of travel.
Transportation Management:
+ Manage the Transportation team to ensure transport needs are met for all sites.
+ Set, measure, and review KPIs, targets, and objectives for team to facilitate the achievement of company objectives and personnel development.
+ Proactively anticipate, develop, and enhance department process, procedures, and personnel as business grows.
+ Manage, train, and develop multiple direct reports.
+ Conduct regular meetings to address issues and improve processes.
+ Compile and prepare metrics and open issues for quarterly business reviews of carriers.
+ Conduct/participate in RFIs and RFQs to choose transport carriers to ensure there are competitive rates and backup carriers in all lanes.
+ Write the RFQ document and statement of work (SOW), conducting cost analysis, and determining potential savings.
+ Participate in third-party negotiations (freight, brokerage, etc.).
+ Closely monitor transit times with carriers and ensure they align to what is published.
+ Maintain carrier rates with all carriers.
+ Maintain the routing guide (RG) to ensure optimized transportation cost and service for freight.
+ Report on regular transportation spend including freight forecast.
+ Utilize transportation expertise to find and determine or lead freight savings projects to reduce freight costs and optimize shipping.
+ Support Procurement with transportation cost modeling as needed.
+ Report on savings projects including sector transportation projects.
+ Initiate carrier claims for lost and damaged freight and research claim documentation through Customer Service and carrier direct contact to bring claims to conclusion.
+ Investigate and respond to carrier billing issues and carrier inquiries regarding payment of invoices.
+ Respond to internal and external customer inquiries on any issues relating to freight payment.
+ Manage Carrier invoice aging reports.
+ Receive, process, and review invoices verifying that they comply with the organizational policies and are approved for payment.
+ Clarify any questionable invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures; obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments.
+ Identify root causes of service failures, recommends solutions, and implements recommendations.
+ Understand the needs of internal customers and suppliers concerning standard communication methodologies, supported configurations, and virtualization options.
+ Lead IT, cyber security, accounting, and finance with related business process teams to implement new freight providers into our ERP system as needed.
+ Stay current with changes in trade regulations, customs rulings, and tariff changes.
+ Understand incoterms and import/export regulations.
Shipping Management:
+ Lead the team of salary shipping coordinators and hourly union employees on the shop floor.
+ Oversee schedule, quality, and performance of packaging and shipping of materials.
+ Understand, manage, and enforce all DOT Compliance requirements for 25 Truck drivers and 30 DOT regulated vehicles, including union truck driver(s).
+ Allocate lease, repair/maintenance, and other costs, and calculate and book necessary accruals and adjustments related to fleet operating costs.
+ Create the daily route for the driver(s).
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience or equivalent experience
+ Experience in Transportation or Supply Chain Management
+ Experience in Freight
+ Experience in Carrier Management
+ Experience in People Management/Leadership
+ Knowledge of Transportation industry best practices
+ Familiar with 3PL and/or multi-site logistics coordination
+ Ability to support bargaining unit employees and comply with CBA requirements
+ Ability to drive operations with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
+ Ability to support process improvement and change management initiatives
+ Ability to ensure compliance with industry requirements FAR, DFAR, ITAR, EAR, etc.
+ Strong analytical and reporting skills (Proficiency in Power BI/Excel/Word/PowerPoint)

**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $90373 - $153634
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
