Things we’d love to tell you about our Taw Valley site

Our Taw Valley Creamery was established in 1974 and it has been a significant site for cheese production in the UK, and it has undergone various developments and expansions over the years to improve its capacity and capabilities in cheese making. We process approximately 1.2 million litres of milk daily; producing over 100t of award winning cheeses each day, such as BOB, Castello Tickler, alongside whey powder. Our Taw Valley site is receiving £180 Million investment to create a state of the art cheese & mozzarella production facility, the 2nd largest single investment in Arla Foods UK.

 

About the job 

The role will be shift based, working a 4 on 4 off pattern with rotating days and nights. As a Logistics Operator you will complete all cold store functions including order picking, physical inventory, loading and housekeeping duties. Loading and unloading of vehicles, operating counterbalance forklift truck and completion of loading/delivery paperwork. You will operate and monitor palletiser equipment performance, correct/raise issues before they become problems and perform basic maintenance tasks and fault diagnosis. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining safety and hygiene standards. Maintain a safe working environment by raising near misses, environmental and risk/safety observations. Previous experience of working in a warehousing or cold store environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. You must be a strong communicator, who is able to prioritise tasks in a timely and organised manner and contribute to regular department meetings. Support completion of risk assessments and standard operating procedures. Complete mandatory and job specific training courses so that skills are kept up to date.

 

Who are you?

Experience in a similar position preferred, although full training will be given.

A motivated team player, who can work on their own initiative. Previous forklift experience, although novice or refresher training will be booked for the successful candidate. Experience using warehouse ERP system (SAP) and Microsoft office programs would be preferred. Previous experience of working in a warehousing or cold store environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. Good knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene would be preferable, although the appropriate training will be provided. You must be a strong communicator, who is able to prioritise tasks in a timely and organised manner and contribute to regular department meetings.
