Logistics Specialist I or II

Position Responsibilities

 

Manage and coordinate import and/or export deliveries and ensure timely distribution of required shipping documentation.  Work with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Shipping Points, Warehouses and Freight Forwarders to ensure customer satisfaction. Maintain compliance with all US Customs and other Government related agencies.  Make certain that Foreign Trade Zone and Country of Origin rules are adhered to. 

 

Logistics Specialist I is responsible to ensure all data reported to US Customs is accurate and timely.  Also responsible to review, approve and dispute invoices on behalf of Wacker.  Manage and communicate with steamship lines, rail lines, airlines, brokers, freight forwarders and Wacker related parties to facilitate the timely transport of Wacker goods. Audit broker and forwarder data filing accuracy in accordance with US government regulations.  Create reports to assist in tracking containers; work in multiple tracking systems to promote on time delivery and minimize demurrage/detention fees incurred by Wacker.

 

May be asked to assist in operation of the designated Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ).  Ensure all proper documentation is received and filed before shipment port arrival to not incur penalties from US Customs and Border Patrol.  Responsible for monitoring the flow of imported containers from Wacker sites globally and 3rd Party shippers as they arrive to North American receiving locations.  Ensure Wacker shipping locations are compliant with Wacker Export Control Program and in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations. 

 

Update and maintain Import/Export Control Procedures as necessary. Periodically review ISM procedure and Work Instruction documents periodically.  Manage assigned workload with the ability to effectively prioritize based on internal customer need.

 

Work with the Corporate Logistics Team to maintain adequate back up coverage for all roles during staff absences.  Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field is required 0-5 years of expereince in a related field SAP delivery, shipping, and inventory handling experience International Logistics experience in a global manufacturing environment preferred Experience maintaining a trade compliance programs and understanding of trade regulations. Knowledge of CTPAT and US Export Compliance preferred US Customs Compliance Regulation experience (i.e. NAFTA Certification, Import and Export Compliance, FDA etc.) Superb interpersonal, communication and writing skills; ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment with minimal supervision, manage/prioritize multiple tasks Consistent attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize and timely produce high quality work product is essential. Strong business acumen, analytical skills, problem solving abilities, good judgment, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
